Saturday's Bully Bonanza was a resounding success. At one point there were over 30 pit bulls in the event area and nobody
was bleeding (sarcastic tone). There were many more bullys visiting throughout the day. We had media coverage from channels
8 & 10.

Naomi and her perfectly charming and well behaved pit bull Aurora brought their weight pull gear for attending bullys to
don pull harnesses and test their muscle and drive by dragging tires or a weighted cart as their family and bystanders cheered
them on. If you want to compete your dog and win some cash, bring her to a legitimate weight pull event. It’s legal,
its good exercise and great fun for the dogs and nobody goes to jail.
The gals, Wendy & Janet, from K9 Responsibility were there with lots of educational material on responsible dog ownership
and bite prevention. Marty Jackson did some amazing face painting. Tons of traffic to the vet & trainer table - from both
bully and non-pit bull owners, as our resources were not breed specific. A big thanks to Dr. Kristi Lively from Village Veterinary Clinic and behaviorists & trainers Ellen, Karen and Wendy from Clever Critters.
Speaking of breed specific, Jodi Preis from Bless the Bullys was there. She probably knows and does more about Breed Specific Legislation than anyone in this part of the country. And
BSL is not just for pit bulls - you better pay attention if you own a shepherd, chow, doberman, rotty, mastiff, dane, or just
about any large breed as there is a growing trend to eliminate these dog from communities, rental properties, and even home
ownership via discriminatory insuring practices. Libby Sherrill, the documentary filmmaker was there shooting footage for
her film about BSL, Beyond the Myth.
A huge thanks to Alyn Dunn who organized this event, designed our kickass and killer priced T-shirts (some sizes still
available) and spent the day at our fundraising table selling shirts and many more donated items including homemade soaps,
dog shampoo, & treats, candles, neckerchiefs for dogs, and much more. And finally we are so very grateful to the Market Square District Association for taking a chance on us and allowing us to pull off this event for a population that is so often marginalized and stigmatized.
We knew we wouldn’t let you down.
Professional photographer Jennie Huettel photographed the event. Check our our gorgeous bullys on her site.
