National Pit Bull Awareness Day Event

We had a great day! The guys from Rocky Top Weight Pullers were super! Many dogs got their first taste of weight pull - some liked it and want more, while others questioned OUR excitement. Click to see the pictures taken by ETPBR, Mallory Brown, or Jodi Preis.

It is National Pit Bull Awareness Day!

On October 24th, groups all over the country will be holding events to showcase the greatness of this breed and educate against the stigma associated with the breed. We would like to invite you to participate in our area! Our focus will be on adopted and adoptable Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes, but there will be many Pit Bull issues shared. There will be a weight pull demonstration and training seminar by Rocky Top Weight Pullers, Jodi Preis from Bless the Bullys and founder of National Pit Bull Awareness day will be joining us, we will be holding a pet food drive to benefit the Humane Society of Anderson County’s Pet Pantry, and the list keeps growing!

So bring a pet food item for the pantry and Join Us!

(Please note Event Guidelines on next page!)

Event Guidelines

As East TN Pit Bull Rescue wants to have safe, positive events, we have a few guidelines that we must ask that you follow. Bully breed owners must remember that we are held to a higher level of accountability than owners of other breeds. Our dogs must always be good ambassadors while out in the public. These guidelines are to help make that job easier. Thank you for helping us ensure a great day!

Pay attention: to your bully at all times

Be sure that your bully has a metal buckle collar and no flexi/retractable leashes

One to One rule: Only one bully is to be handled, on leash, at a time. If you have additional bullies, they must be crated if they do not have their own handlers

5 foot rule: give your bully at least five feet of clearance from other dogs

Time out: if your bully gets overexcited, agitated, or aggressive, he/she must be taken out of the square to settle down

Meet & greet: even if you have a bully that is bomb proof with other dogs, please arrange any meet & greets away from the awareness day area.

Policing: Representatives of East TN Pit Bull Rescue will be monitoring all bully activity in and around our booth. If we see any behavior that violates these rules or in some way jeopardizes the safety and reputation of this event, you will be asked to leave the immediate area.
