STAY Foster Program

Space Time Advocacy You

Tragically, area shelters euthanize hundreds of American Pit Bull Terriers and kindred “Bully” breeds each week. These dogs aren’t given a second chance because someone like you was not there to foster them. By fostering a dog, you provide critical space and time, until a responsible, loving home can be found.

The STAY Foster Program of East Tennessee Pit Bull Rescue is committed to re-homing abandoned and surrendered pit bulls, giving them lifesaving space and time until forever homes can be found. When you make the decision to foster a pit bull you not only save that dog’s life, but you build the network of advocates for pit bulls everywhere. We work closely with area shelters and dog trainers to assure that all dogs that come through our rescue are suitable for adoption.

You might consider becoming a STAY Foster Parent if:

  • You’ve been considering getting a dog
  • You’re not in a position for a long-term commitment to a dog
  • You’re experienced with and love pit bulls*

*If you do not have experience with pit bulls, we will provide you with education and training.

What do we ask of our foster homes?

  • An indoor environment and use of a crate during periods when the dog is alone
  • Regular leash walks & play time
  • Assistance with the adoption process. This involves talking to prospective adopters, who have already been screened by ETPBR, and introducing them to your foster dog
  • Transportation to vet appointments
  • A minimum four month commitment

 How does ETPBR help you?

  • We strive to be flexible with your schedule and match you with the right dog
  • We pay for approved vet care*

We provide a crate, leashes, collars & toys (As the rescue has them)*

  • We have a pit bull trainer who can work with you and your foster dog
  • If you have to go out of town, we can provide pet care in your absence
  • We promote the adoption of your foster dog on our website as well as on Pit Bull Rescue Central, Pet Finder, and in well regarded Critter Magazine. We also promote our rescue dogs at various community events and special adoption days

*If you are in a position to pay for any or all of these needs, we are happy to accept your  generosity
